History:
Gus’ loving mother passed away and unfortunately the family couldn’t take him in, they did help us by taking him to the vet for his routine visit, and we are so thankful for that! Gus has been in our care since 10/31/2026
Personality:
Gus is a sweet boy, but he does have some opinions about who gets to be in his inner circle! 😂
🐾 Dog friendly? Gus can be a little picky about his four-legged friends! He previously lived with another male Shih Tzu, so we know he's capable of sharing his home with another dog. However, he doesn't necessarily want to be besties with every dog he meets!
🐾 Meet and greets? Absolutely! We'd love to make sure Gus and any potential canine siblings are a good match before sending him home.
🐾 Age? Approximately 5 years old — past those wild puppy days but still with plenty of life and love to give!
🐾 Breed? Shih Tzu, which means he's got the adorable little face to go along with his personality! 💙
Gus isn't looking for just any home. He's looking for a family who understands that losing everything familiar can be a big adjustment for a little dog.
A family who will give him patience, stability, and the chance to settle in at his own pace.
And while he may be selective about his doggy friends, there's absolutely nothing wrong with a guy who knows what he likes!
Cohabitation:
Gus lives with other dogs
Favorites:
Gus likes to just have his space and have his place be your lap!
Medical:
Gus is up-to-date on age appropriate vaccines, is scheduled for neuter, and is microchipped. He has no current medical conditions.
Adoption Fee: $400
Available as a foster to adopt. ½ adoption fee due at the time of pick up and ½ due at the time of adoption. Complete adoption when vetting is compete.
Breed Identification Disclaimer: At Ham & Beans Canine Rescue, we strive to provide the most accurate information possible about every dog in our care. However, in most cases, we do not know the dog's parentage and rarely have the opportunity to see either parent. Breed designations are based solely on information provided by shelters, previous owners, surrendering families, veterinary staff, or our best visual assessment. Because mixed-breed dogs can inherit traits from many different breeds, we cannot guarantee the accuracy of any breed identification. We encourage adopters to focus on each dog's individual personality, temperament, energy level, and needs rather than breed labels alone.
